Community Services
The Community Services Unit strives to promote individual responsibility and community commitment, while working together in a spirit that resolves problems, reduces crime and the fear of crime, and provides a safe environment for everyone. Our objective is to maintain and facilitate a positive relationship between the police department and the citizens we serve. Additionally, the division strengthens public trust through education and partnerships.
In order to achieve its goals, Community Services Unit officers and civilian staff partner with citizens and businesses, government and civic organizations, as well as schools and education-based programs. The partnerships created by the division are an invaluable asset to the police department, as it builds relationships with the community that would not otherwise exist and flourish.
Services & Programs The Community Services Unit offers numerous community services and programs, including:
Area Assignments Each officer in Community Services is assigned a specific geographic area of the city in order to provide a single police point of contact for residents in that area. Additionally, these officers work with multi-housing management, HOAs, and other community organizations in their assigned area to address significant issues, disseminate important information, and support crime prevention efforts.
