About the Park

Named for B.F. Phillips Sr. who previously owned land where this park lies. Phillips Sr. was known for the world famous Phillips Ranch where he bred and trained quarter horses. His efforts were rewarded with his prized sorrel stallion – Dash for Cash. This was the only horse to win the coveted “Champion of Champions” not once, but twice. He was the Racing World Champion in 1976 and 1977 and during this period set two track records, won 21 of 25 starts, including 9 stakes races, and he finished first or second in all but one of the races he entered.

Dash for Cash was also the inspiration for the name of the park's disc golf course, Dash's Track.

Athletic Field Statuses

Public Art

For Want of a Horseshoe Nail, Howard Meehan, 2008
Have you read the proverb For Want of a Nail? Meehan was inspired by it to create this artwork. Read it on the sidewalk and see the monumental horseshoe and nail sculptures!
