Frisco RoughRiders / Riders Field
The City of Frisco's partnership with the Frisco RoughRiders (AA affiliate, Texas Rangers) and the Riders Field venue was the first in the city's collection of professional sports venues developed from a public-private partnership.
Riders Field, located at 7300 RoughRiders Trail, opened to the public in 2003 and was soon awarded with the "Best New Ballpark Award " from BaseballParks.com . Since then, as the facility has grown and been updated, it has also been recognized as:
In 2015, the ballpark received a new HD videoboard, upgraded sound system, revamped team store and new food and beverage facilities, among other enhancements. In 2016, the 174-foot long, 68,000 gallon Choctaw Lazy River was installed in the park.
When the project was announced in 2002, the stadium was part of a $300 million dollar public-privately funded project, which included the Dallas Stars training headquarters and practice facility, a gymnastics center, a hotel and convention center, as well as residential, retail and office space.
