Submit completed applications with Supporting Documentation to Health & Food Safety using our online system, Plans and Permits. Please note that submissions must be received a minimum of 10 business days prior to the event to be considered or late fee applies.
Mobile food units are defined as a vehicle-mounted food establishment designed to be readily movable. Mobile food units typically move from point of sale to point of sale, not stationary in any location for greater than 15 minutes. Mobile food units that wish to operate as a ’Food Truck’ may submit for that permit separately. Two permit types are available: unit with kitchen on the vehicle (hot truck - $400) and unit without kitchen on the vehicle (cold truck - $300).
Food Trucks
A Food Truck is defined as a mobile food unit that is permitted to operate at an approved location for a period of time exceeding fifteen (15) minutes. Locations are pre-approved and separate permits must be obtained for each location sought. A Food Truck that wants to operate as a Mobile Food Unit (above) may submit for that permit separately. Food Trucks operating during a single event must submit Permit Type - Temporary.
Stationary Food Vendor
Stationary food vendors are defined as any person (or persons) who operates or sells food from a stationary cart, or trailer mounted on chassis, but without an engine for a period of 15 days or greater per year. Stationary food vendors who operate for 14 days or less shall be considered temporary food establishments, as defined by the Health Ordinance as it exists or may be amended. Stationary food vendors must comply with the Stationary Vendor Ordinance and the Health Ordinance. Permits are valid for one (1) year and permit fee per location is $400.
Stationary food vendors must only operate at a specific location within the same operation hours as the business on the same lot that has a Certificate of Occupancy. Outside of the business operation hours, the stationary food vending unit must be removed or stored away. Stationary food vendors may not operate within city parks. Stationary Food Vendors operating during a single event must submit Permit Type - Temporary
Temporary food establishments are defined as a food establishment that operates for a period of no more than 14 consecutive days in conjunction with a single event or celebration. Seasonal food establishments are defined as a food establishment that operates at a fixed location for a period greater than fourteen (14) consecutive days, but less than thirty (30) consecutive days.
The permit fee is $50 for each event or celebration sought. Temporary and Seasonal food establishments must obtain a permit from Health & Food Safety, applying no later than ten (10) business days prior to the event or celebration. Applications received within the ten (10) day requirement will be assessed a late fee of $50.00. Applications will not be accepted if received within 3 business days prior to the event. (Ex. event on Friday - application due by 5 p.m. Monday) Temporary and Seasonal food establishments may be limited to serving only food items that are defined as lower-risk.
Short-term merchants are vendors that wish to operate at pre-approved locations, typically seasonally, such as farmers markets. Permit length is for one year. Permit fee for vendors that do not fall under state law exemptions is $100.00. Vendors that are exempt from fees will be subject only to review and allowable requirements to ensure food safety.
