Benefit eligible employees have the option of two dental plans provided by Cigna.
Cigna DPPO Plan
This plan allows you the freedom to visit any dentist for your dental care. However, if you choose an out of network dentist, you may pay more for your care. You may look up dental facilities within the DPPO network by visiting the Cigna website and selecting the Find a Doctor, Dentist, or Facility link. Select the "Employer or School" option for coverage. Use the search tool to find a dentist; you can continue search as a Guest. Select the "Total Cigna DPPO" Plan. The DPPO plan has a preventative service benefit. When you have a preventative service completed, your annual maximum will increase the following year. With this plan, you will not receive an ID card as you can go to any dentist. On your www.mycigna.com account or your MyCigna App, you are able to have a temporary ID card for this Plan. We also have a fill-able ID card in the document section below that you can take to your dentist. This has all pertinent information needed for your dentist to file a claim towards the PPO dental plan. See the documents section below for more information.
Cigna DHMO Plan
For this plan, you must designate a primary care dentist and notify Cigna before your appointment or start receiving care from the dental facility. You can change your primary care dentist at any time during the year. You may look up dental facilities within the HMO network by visiting the Cigna website and selecting the Find a Doctor, Dentist, or Facility link. Select the "Employer or School" option for coverage. Use the search tool to find a dentist; you can continue search as a Guest. Select the "Cigna Dental Care Access Network".Important note: If you sign up for the DHMO plan, Cigna will assign a primary care dental facility close to your home zip code so that you can start receiving care if needed. You can change this designation at any time by contacting Cigna with your choice of an in-network DHMO Cigna dentist. As an extra benefit to those that decide to elect either dental plan with the City, you can also register for the Cigna Dental Oral Health Integration Program. This program is for people with certain medical conditions that may be impacted by dental care. See the document section below for more information about the program and registering.
