Building Inspections is responsible for structural inspections, including all building construction remodels, additions, alterations, certificates of occupancy, signs, pools, and fences.

Schedule a Building Inspection

Inspection requests:  Before requesting a Building Inspection, submit the required Field Documents. Contractors MUST submit Building Inspection requests through our eTRAKiT system.   Following the online inspection request, an email confirmation will be sent to you.  Online inspection requests are required before 7 a.m. to have the inspection completed the same day.  The telephonic inspection request line is discontinued effective March 1, 2021. 

Homeowners who do not have a contractor associated with their permit may request inspections by email.  Requests must be received before 4 p.m. to be scheduled for the next business day.  Requests received after the 4 p.m. cutoff will be scheduled for the second business day.  Please include the following information in the body of the email (attachments are not accepted):

  • Permit Number
  • Address to be inspected
  • Type of Inspection requested
  • If this is for the release of utilities, please list the utility provider (Atmos, Oncor, Coserv)

Remote Video Inspections:  You may request a Remote Video Inspection for eligible permits.  Please review the Remote Video Inspection program document for guidelines.

To cancel an inspection: All Cancellations are made through the assigned Building Inspector.  Inspections are assigned at 7 a.m. for that day.  You can find who is assigned by searching Permit Information Online (no login required).  You may contact an inspector on the Inspector Contact List (PDF).  Cancellations are accepted by voice and text message prior to an inspector’s arrival.
