Expired Violations

The law allows certain violations to be dismissed if the defect is corrected on time. To have a citation dismissed for compliance or proof of remedy, you must:

  1. Get the violation corrected at once.
  2. Show proof to the court within 20 working days from the date of your citation.
  3. For Expired Registration, show that a 20% penalty was paid to the Department of Motor Vehicles at the time the registration was renewed. The court may only dismiss the case if the penalty was paid.
  4. Pay the $20 court fee.
