Schedule of Activities
CFA classes are scheduled Thursday evenings from 7-9 p.m. for this 9-week program. There will also be one Saturday morning exercise from
8-10:30 a.m.  Time will be spent allowing participants the opportunity to learn about and experience hands-on simulation of many of the routine tasks associated with emergency medical response as well as fire suppression and rescue operations.

Community Education Classes
There will also be a chance to learn about the department's Community Education Classes offered to those who live or work in Frisco and the type of fire safety messages taught to children during educational events at Frisco Fire Safety Town.

Activities
Academy participants will have a chance to try on firefighter turnout gear, see a thermal imaging camera in use, as well as learn how to use a fire extinguisher at home to douse small flames. Other highlights include learning about the type of rescue tools, such as hydraulic cutters, spreaders and rams, air bags and air chisels, that firefighters use in rescue situations. To simulate the use of these tools, class participants will have the opportunity to cut apart a vehicle in a Saturday morning vehicle extrication exercise (date TBD.) Class members will also learn about Frisco's emergency medical services and ambulance operations. Department paramedics and EMT personnel will show you the equipment carried on our ambulances and engines, and will explain how it’s used. Finally, each participant will have the opportunity to ride out with crews on real emergency calls.  All activities will be overseen by Frisco firefighters.
