Engineers Week

National Engineers Week

This year's theme — Welcome to the Future! — is about recognizing how engineers make a difference in our world and paving the way for a brighter and more diverse future. Founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers in 1951, National Engineers Week is celebrated annually in February to shine a spotlight on the outstanding, influential work of these highly skilled professionals.

During Engineers Week we recognize and celebrate our incredible team, the driving force behind Engineering Services, as they work together to help promote health, safety and welfare in our community.

High School Engineering Interns

This year's theme focuses on welcoming the next generation of engineers, and City of Frisco engineers are doing their part to help engage and inspire local students to pursue careers in engineering. Through a partnership with the Frisco Independent School District (FISD) and its Career Technical Education (CTE) Center, the Engineering Services Department has welcomed two high school interns for the spring semester.

High school seniors, Aayush Jain and Aadhov Ilangovan, are the first to participate in this partnership and have both been studying Engineering at the CTE Center for the past 2.5 years. These students are gaining valuable hands-on experience working with city engineers like Senior Civil Engineer, Ricardo Ordonez, P.E. (Pictured below discussing the development review process with Aayush and Aadhov).

Engineering Interns“I have been fortunate in my career to have worked with some very talented engineers who have shared their knowledge base with me, and as a professional engineer it is our responsibility to pass along that knowledge to the next generation." Says Ordonez. "We at the City of Frisco take that responsibility to heart, and welcome the opportunity to do so with the students of FISD.”

We recognize and thank the talented group of engineers working for the city who invest their time and talents in our community.
