Community Development Block Grant

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) is provided by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These funds must be used primarily to benefit low- and moderate-income persons living in the City of Frisco.

Possible uses of funds include:

  • Acquisitions or purchases of public facilities
  • Rehabilitation of housing stock for low- and moderate-income homeowners
  • Provision of services concerned with housing, employment, crime prevention, child care, health, drug abuse, education, fair housing, energy conservation, welfare, or recreation.

Up to 15% of the grant amount may be provided for public services.

Consolidated Plan

The City of Frisco Community Development Division created the 5 year Consolidated Plan (2020-2024) and submitted the PY 2023 Annual Action Plan (PDF)  to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in August 2023.  

The City of Frisco received notification that it will be receiving Community Development Block Grant funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for $719,608 for the program year 2023. The City estimates an approximate $13,000 will be earned in program income and $60,184 of previous years' funds for reallocation for a total of $792,791. 

The purpose of the Community Development Block Grant Program is to support and perform activities that primarily benefit low- and moderate-income persons and prevent or eliminate slums or blight. Community Development Block Grant funds will be used for the program year 2023, from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024. Shown below are projects and funding for the 2023 program year.
