Frisco Fire Department Responds to Two House Fires; Suspect Charged with Deadly Conduct & Arson

(April 23, 2024 - UPDATED 9:15 p.m.) Tonight the Frisco Fire Marshal’s Office has now also charged Jonathan Webb with arson, a first-degree felony, related to a fire Monday afternoon in the Chapel Creek neighborhood.  The bond is set at $150,000.

Webb was first arrested Monday night following the investigation of one of two fires that happened yesterday, April 22. Just after 10 p.m., the Frisco Fire and Frisco Police Departments responded to the second fire call of the day in the 4600 block of Haverford Dr. Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire burning in a trash container in the alley. No one was injured. There was no damage to any homes or vehicles.

Frisco Police officers on scene saw a man walk from between two houses near the fire. He matched the description of a person of interest related to a separate house fire from earlier in the day in the area of Chapel Creek Parkway and Memorial Drive.

The suspect is identified as Jonathan Webb, age 29, of Austin, TX. Frisco Police arrested him for public intoxication. He also had outstanding warrants with the City of Dallas. Later Monday night, the Fire Marshal Office (FMO) charged Webb with Deadly Conduct related to the alley fire. The suspect is currently in the Denton County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

Frisco firefighters responded to the first fire on Monday at 4:08 p.m. The home on Memorial Drive was under construction and is a total loss. The house next door sustained significant damage. In total, eight homes were impacted by either fire, water damage or broken windows by the 3-alarm fire.

During the initial response, FMO investigators spoke with neighbors who provided a description of a person who’d been seen in the area of the fire shortly before it started. Video footage of the man was also obtained and shared with Frisco Police. This video helped officers identify Webb as a person of interest.

One person was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation and released.  The FMO investigation of the Chapel Creek house fire is ongoing.
